OSBC Online is the online database for the Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner. There are several functions accessible within OSBC Online:

Services Available to General Public

Lookup a State-Chartered Bank, Trust Company, Consumer Credit Filers, TEFFI, or a Revenue Bond

You can lookup the status of state-chartered banks, trust companies, consumer credit filers, revenue bonds, and technology-enabled fiduciary financial institutions with the Lookup a License/Charter link. 

Generate and Download Spreadsheets

To view common record requests or a roster of approved companies of the above types, visit the Generate Spreadsheet link. You can generate any number of reports and download them in a variety of formats. If information you desire is not present, please generate an open records request.

 

Lookup a Licensed Mortgage Company, Consumer Credit Company, Money Transmitter, or Other Financial Company

Using NMLS (the Nationwide Multi-State Licensing System) Consumer Access, a wide variety of non-bank financial companies can be searched to verify license status.

 

Services Available to Licensed Businesses

Certain types of companies are able to process renewals, confirm or record data, update Oath of Officers & Directors listings, and pay fees with our online services. If your license type supports these features, a login will be provided by the OSBC.

If you have questions about your login:

By using OSBC Online, you agree, pursuant to K.S.A. 45-220(c)(2) of the Kansas Open Records Act, that you do not intend to and you will not:

(A) Use any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed; or

(B) Sell, give, or otherwise make available to any person any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of allowing that person to sell or offer for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed.

I understand that use of the information in contravention of state law is prohibited and carries civil penalties of up to $500 per violation.

 

Company Lookup - Instructions

Company Lookup allows you to search for certain regulated entities that the Office of the State Bank Commissioner regulates.  These include:

  • State-Chartered Banks
  • Consumer Credit Filers
  • Trust Companies
  • Technology-Enabled Fiduciary Financial Institutions

For all other financial companies that the Office of the State Bank Commissioner regulates, including mortgage companies, loan originators, money transmitters, credit service organizations, and other consumer credit companies, utilize the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System’s Consumer Access.

Using the Search

As a general rule, use as few criteria as possible when performing a search. You can search by business name, location information, status of the license/charter, or type of business performed.

To select multiple business types, hold the CTRL button on your keyboard when selecting with your mouse:

If you know the license/charter/CUSIP number, you can enter that directly into the second field of the License/Cert Number:

Once you’ve initiated a search, click the Detail to the left of any license to see additional information about the business. This information varies by the type of institution, but can include things like bank trust powers, NMLS number, supervising company, licensed loan originators, and other relevant information.

Tips for License Lookup

  • Addresses listed on OSBC Online are the physical address – some locations may have a separate mailing address.
  • When searching by name, include the beginning of the name of the institution for best results.
  • Use the Clear Form button to reset your search criteria.
  • We classify a business license/charter as Active (Licensed), Inactive (Closed, License Lapsed, Etc.), or Pending (new applicants). For more information on any of these statuses, click the Detail link on the business.
